Description
A calming herbal tea latte made with spices like cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon, then topped with warm, frothy dairy-free milk.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of unsweetened dairy-free milk (I used almond milk in this recipe)
- 1 chamomile tea bag (or 1 tsp of loose leaf tea)
- 5 –7 cloves, crushed
- 5 cardamom pods, crushed
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a few sprinkles of ground cinnamon to top it off
- 1–2 tsp of honey, or to taste
Instructions
Bring water to a boil in a kettle. Once boiling, add tea bag (or loose leaf tea), cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves. Cloves and cardamom pods can be crushed with a mortar and pestle or the flat part of a knife and cutting board to offer a stronger flavor (not required though). Remove from heat and cover kettle, letting steep for 10 minutes.
During the last 3-4 minutes of steeping, add dairy-free milk to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat, while whisking to get a frothy consistency.
Once the tea is done steeping, pour through a mesh strainer and into a mug. Stir in honey and top with the warm, frothy milk and a few sprinkles of cinnamon.
