Ok, let’s address the elephant in the room. This juice is a 10/10 for health, a 10/10 for taste, and a 3/10 for looks. No matter what we did it always came out looking a bit… yucky.
But, what it lacks in looks it makes up for in antioxidant, anti inflammatory, and detox powers! Best of all, it’s super simple to make. All you need is a blender!
What Does The Liver Do?
The liver is the largest organ in the body and is responsible for some majorly important stuff. Here are some of it’s key functions:
Aids in digestion by making and secreting bile
Processes nutrients absorbed by the intestines
Breaks down and processes alcohol and medications
Removes toxins from the bloodstream
Protein synthesis that contributes to blood clotting and wound healing
Stores essential vitamins and minerals
Signs Your Liver Needs Attention
For many of us, liver function isn’t something we think much about. Most of the time it’s quietly and efficiently doing its job as we go about our lives. However, there are a few signs to watch out for that may indicate your liver needs attention.
Bloating and gas
Acid reflux and heartburn
Skin and/or eyes that are yellowish
Inability to lose weight
High blood pressure
Anxiety or depression
How A Healthy Liver Can Lead to Less Acid Reflux:
Processing PPI medication efficiently
Facilitating healing of the esophagus and stomach
If you’re ready to support your liver and cleanse your system we’ve got you covered. We researched lots of different ingredients and landed on a combo of superfoods that work really well together.
It takes just a few minutes to throw this together in the blender, and you’ll be glad you did! The taste is sweet and aromatic, the texture is somewhere between juice and a smoothie, and the health benefits are awesome!
Here’s what’s in it and how you make it…
Ingredients for Juice To Cleanse The Liver
Unsweetened Apple Juice contains pectin and malic acid which both contribute to liver function. Plus it’s the perfect natural sweetener!
Carrot juice is essential to any liver cleanse. In the liver, the beta carotene is converted into vitamin A to help flush out the toxins in the body while reducing fat in the liver.
Avocado contains a high amount of compounds that help produce glutathione which encourage the liver to cleanse itself. They also add a beautiful silkiness to this drink!
Spinach is a great source of potassium and is high in antioxidants and polyphenols which are both liver protectants. Don’t worry, you won’t even know it’s there!
Parsley stimulates the liver to produce bile which is how it cleanses itself.
Beet root powder activates liver enzymes and increases bile production. It’s earthy and complex and adds the ummm… “interesting” color to the drink.
Turmeric has long been known as an anti inflammatory food. It’s the brilliant yellow spice that is the base of many curry powders. It’s also been used to treat fatty liver disease.
Ginger adds a delightful bite to this drink. It’s also been studied as a remedy for liver inflammation.
Cinnamon brings a warmth and familiarity to the flavor and also contributes high antioxidant support.
How to Make Juice to Cleanse The Liver
First, add the spinach and parsley to the blender.
Next, spoon in the avocado
Now, pour in both the apple and carrot juice
Then add the dry ingredients of beet root powder, turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon
Finally, blend these on high until completely smooth.
If you feel like your liver could use some support, then this juice is a perfect place to start. Simple, delicious, and wildly nutritious- what’s not to like? Beside the color, of course.
