Why We Love this Ginger Tahini Low Acid Dressing

Oh, where do I even begin? This low acid dressing is my go-to for salads, wraps, and even as a dipping sauce. It has a heavenly blend of flavors that make you forget you’re eating something “healthy.” Trust me; this dressing is the unsung hero that you’ve been waiting for!

I’ve had to give up a lot of acidic foods, which left my salads pretty bland, but this low acid dressing has been a savior. It’s as tasty as it is gentle, making mealtime a joy rather than a chore.

What Is Tahini?

Tahini is a creamy, rich paste made from ground sesame seeds. Originating from the Middle East, it has been a staple in various cuisines for thousands of years and is especially popular in dishes like hummus and baba ganoush.

The sesame seeds are typically hulled, roasted, and then ground to produce a smooth, oily paste. Its flavor is slightly nutty and earthy, with a hint of bitterness that pairs well with both savory and sweet dishes.

Ingredients for Low Acid Dressing: Ginger Tahini

  • 1/3 Cup Tahini: This creamy sesame seed paste is not just luxurious; it’s also low in acid, making it perfect for GERD-friendly recipes.

  • 1/4 cup Plain Yogurt (plant-based for a vegan option): Adds a creamy texture and is also easy on the stomach.

  • 1 tbsp Maple Syrup: Just a touch of sweetness, and it’s a low acid alternative to other sweeteners.

  • 3 tsp Freshly Grated Ginger: Zesty and aromatic, ginger is known for its digestive benefits.

  • 1/2 tsp Salt, to taste: Just a pinch to elevate all the flavors, and salt is naturally low in acid.

  • Warm Water: To thin into a pourable low acid dressing.

First Zest the Ginger: Start by grating fresh ginger until you have around 3 teaspoons. This One is my go-to.

Next, mix the Tahini in a bowl with yogurt, maple syrup, ground ginger, and salt.

Whisk or stir to combine. Then add warm water a little at a time until you’ve achieved a pourable, luscious consistency.
